Job Description:
Data Consulting Group is looking for a Applications Analyst - Business Intelligence Analyst/Report Writer responsible for the analysis, design, development, deployment, and support of enterprise reports related to business intelligence and other operational needs. The opportunity is a contract to hire opportunity located in Detroit Michigan.
Job Duties:
• Able to use of Power BI, SAP Business Objects and Crystal Reports, and have familiarity in Cognos, Oracle, SSRS, Tableau and other types of business reporting software
• Design, develop, deploy, and support the tools, data stores, cubes, models, stored procedures, and queries to generate static and ad-hoc data queries and reports; along with new and existing reports for all business units and enterprise reporting needs
• Perform basic data analysis and high-level data mining as necessary to generate ad-hoc reports summarizing business, financial, or economic data for review by executives, managers, clients, and/or other partners
• Assist with the support, maintenance and upgrade to development and staging environments as necessary and consult with internal customers to develop analyses which leads to actionable insights; work with several large and complex data models and cubes
• Understand different disaster recovery solutions for reporting systems, plans and implement a report archival/retention strategy and collect and maintain classifications for disaster recovery or other purposes
• Maintain retention policies and perform archiving and/or purging activities in accordance with retention policies
Job Qualifications:
Education & Experience
• Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and one 2 to 3 years of experience; or combination of related work experience and education
• Domain-specific entry level certification (i.e. Certified Business Process Analyst, JAVA
• Ability to work irregular hours, commute to GLWA facilities and work sites, and respond to after hour emergencies and on-call responses
Knowledge Required
• Web-based programming language (such as Python, Java, Ruby, C#)
• User interface design and graphic software
• Operating system knowledge (Windows, Linux)
• Version Control Systems (such as CVS, SVN)
• Relational Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, schema design, object model relationships)
• Web Server (such as Apache, Tomcat, Mongrel, IIS)
• System Development Lifecycle and Agile development methodologies
• COBIT and ITIL, including Change Management, Software/Systems Development Life Cycle for application development and management
• Reporting tools (such as PowerBI, Business Objects and COGNOS)
• Principles and practices of the functions performed by IT Services
• Principles and techniques of application development and languages and hardware, software, application, database and network environments
• Principles and techniques of systems analysis, design and development lifecycle
• Installation and maintenance of hardware, software, application, database, and network
components
